Subject: Conexant HSF modem under Linux

Hi,

I saw on the list that Emeric Legrande has found a way to make his
Conexant HSF modem working under Linux. I tried to do the same, following
his guidelines, and I got my modem working up to the point where I can type
AT commands (in minicom) and the 'modem' repsonses with OK. But then, when I
try to dial a number, or try to call the modem using another telephone,
nothing happens (dialing gives me a NO DIALTONE error, calling it from
another phone should give me RINGs in minicom, but it doesn't).

I think this may be caused by the Country settings (in the lin_hsf.inf
file), so I added Country settings for The Netherlands from the modem's
win2000 inf file and restarted everything. This dis not change anything...

Does anyone have any clues to what might be wrong?

FYI: the modem does work under win98 and win2000 with the same tehephone
line, so I think the problem must be in the modem (or software), not in the
line.

Thanx in advance,

Andre

By the Way: I had to change the Major number in the mknod command (in
ins_all) from 254 to 253, since that was what /proc/devices reportes after
the modules were loaded.
